Sawdust or Sawmill? (07-26-08) MP3
Jesus tells us in Luke 6:37-42 to refrain from being judgmental and condemning, yet we all struggle with tendencies of finding faults in others. Brandon Hoover presents a message titled, Sawdust or Sawmill? in which he contextualizes these guiding words from the Lord and His encouragement to forgive others if we expect to receive forgiveness from God. Brandon explains that when we cling to the Lord, we can receive His power to overcome, forgive, give, and love. Brandon also notices that all of the first responses to mistreatment about which Jesus taught were prophetic since He exhibited them at the hands of His persecutors.

Love My Who? (07-19-08) MP3
Pastor Jeff Voth examines Jesus' directive found Luke 6:30-44 to love our enemies and those who hate us, and he poses questions about the seriousness of this command and how we might accomplish it. Jeff's message, Love My Who? reminds us of the context of our Lord's imperative and concludes with suggestions of practical and supernatural remedies for the poison we ingest when we hold grudges against and refuse to forgive and minister to those who have hurt us.

Sermon on The Plain (07-12-08) MP3
Jesus' sermon on the plain found in Luke 6:20-25 contains one version of the revolutionary, counter-cultural values of the Beatitudes. Tom Stipe makes note of the divine love of the poor and the downtrodden the command of Jesus is that we, as His followers, take on the duty of caring for them. Because our views and values are contrary to the world, Jesus warns us that following Him will bring real trouble into our lives. Nonetheless, Tom adds that our emotional and spiritual health result when we truly love the disenfranchised and should be prepared to give a defense of our faith in response to the hostility we will face according to 1 Peter 3:15-16.

The Calling (07-05-08) MP3
Senior Pastor Tom Stipe, in his message titled, The Calling, peers into the selection process of the apostles described in Luke 6:12-19. Tom pays considerable attention to the commonness and character flaws of the twelve apostles before their encounters with Jesus and then likens their ignobility and sinfulness to the membership of the Church. Like the twelve, we are bad people forgiven of our sins by God's grace, called to follow Jesus, renewed in mind and spirit day by day, and instructed to model His love and mercy to each other without masks or pretense.

Brand New Things (06-28-08) MP3
Jesus brought joy, love, and a fresh relationship between God and His people as well as a proper view of the purpose of the Sabbath. Pastor Brandon Hoover takes the condemning words of the Lord spoken to the scribes and Pharisees presented in Luke 5:33 - 6:11 and crafts a message titled, Brand New Things, to free us from religious constructs that preempt us from loving each other and living a life as new creations focused on the love of God rather than oppressive rules and ritualistic practices.

Nothing Impossible (06-21-08) MP3
While on earth, Jesus did the impossible -- especially when it came to changing lives. Brandon Hoover presents a message, Nothing Impossible, prepared from Luke 5:1-32 in which we see the lives of Peter, a leper, a paralytic, and Levi the tax collector transformed forever by the healing hand of Jesus. Brandon punctuates his message by noting that Jesus continues to perform miraculous deeds in our lives that demonstrate God's deep and abiding love for us.

Move (06-14-08) MP3
In his message titled, Move, Jeff Voth extracts from Luke 4:30-44 applications for us patterned on the powerful actions of Jesus in His early ministry. Namely, we must move: 1) in authority; 2) against the powers of the enemy; 3) toward God; and 4) in action as a result of our personal interaction with Him. Jeff encourages us to engage and battle the devil in our local spheres of influence as our Lord did.

Expectation (06-07-08) MP3
Because of Jesus' victories over Satan in the wilderness, victory is available for us as well in every area of human existence. Pastor Jeff Voth carefully examines Luke 4:13-30 in his message, Expectation, in which he contends we, as apprentices of the Lord should expect the Holy Spirit to bring us to places of influence, clarity of purpose, and transparency of purpose. Ultimately, Jeff claims we can expect the Spirit to protect, preserve, and guide us through times of testing and intimidation.

Your Relationship with Satan (05-31-08) MP3
We are living in a needful time when our commitment to God and our priorities are constantly tested. Senior Pastor Tom Stipe examines the subtleties of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13) to teach us to include God in all spheres (e.g., physical, material, financial, spiritual) of our lives to overcome the wiles of the devil. Tom's message, titled, Your Relationship with Satan, directs our focus toward the resources Jesus applied that also allow us to overcome the influences of the evil one, the world, and our flesh: namely prayer, the scriptures, the full armor of God and his intercession on our behalf.

What An Example! (05-24-08) MP3
John the Baptist was a brave man who knew what is was to speak to the truth. Pastor Brandon Hoover's message from Luke 3:19-38 titled, What An Example! covers the details of John's bold rebuke of Herod's immoral lifestyle which led to John's arrest and ultimately cost him his life. Brandon also claims Jesus' baptism at the hands of John gives us a perfect example of desiring to please His Father through righteousness, submission, humility, and love. This passage also lends credence to God's hope for the world found in the genealogy of Jesus.

Prepare The Way of The Lord (05-17-08) MP3
The emergence of John The Baptist, described in Luke 3:1-18, brought a message of repentance demanding that people: 1) share with each other and minister to those in need; 2) live with integrity and serve God with all of themselves wherever you are placed; and 3) recognize him as only the forerunner to Jesus and His message and judgment. Tom Stipe draws our attention to proof of the validity of the Bible contained in Luke's historically accurate account of the Gospel, and he offers an admonishment to avoid taking the message of repentance out of the preaching of God's Word.

The Most Privileged Mother (05-10-08) MP3
Pastor Tom Stipe gives us a special Mother's Day message prepared from the account of Mary and Joseph finding the adolescent Jesus in the temple after three days found in Luke 2:41-52. Tom demystifies the details of this story including: 1) how Mary and Joseph could have left Jesus behind in Jerusalem; 2) how Jesus would have gained an audience with the Sanhedrin during which He astonished them with His knowledge of the scriptures; and 3) why Jesus could respond to His mother and Joseph to be about His Father's business at such a young age. Tom concludes that most godly mothers have concerns about whether or not their children will walk with and obey the Lord, but in Mary's case, she was fortunate enough to witness Jesus' understanding of His unique relationship with God and His purpose. As such, she was the most privileged mother in history.

Simeon and Anna (05-03-08) MP3
According to Luke 2:21-40, both Simeon and Anna were in the temple when Jesus was presented and recognized the redemption and fulfilled promise He represented. Tom Stipe looks closely at these devout characters and makes note of their advanced ages and the fact they were faithful servants of God and uncorrupted at a time when the priesthood and sacrificial system were compromised and defiled. Tom sees both of these people as unique because they strictly obeyed the Mosaic Law and had intimate relationships with the Holy Spirit prior to the completion of Jesus' earthly ministry and the compilation of the New Testament. As a result, God honored them by putting them in the right place at the right time to witness salvation come in the form of a baby.

Consideration (04-26-08) MP3
Jeff Voth, in his message, Consideration, ask us to be very mindful of God's intentionality as he reviews the details of story of the greatest event in history, the birth of Jesus Christ, found in Luke 2:1-21. Specifically, Jeff understands that this event is so powerful that it will ultimately affect everyone, and it is so important that it should be "taken to the house." When we recognize God's attention to detail and His adeptness at orchestrating and managing the events necessary to bring our Savior to the world, we should be attentive to this event as well, we can safely conclude that it was intended for each of us, and we can be confident that He can do an amazing job handling the details of our lives.

Always Growing (04-19-08) MP3
Zacharias teaches us that when challenging times come, we have the opportunity to grow in our relationship with God. Pastor Brandon Hoover presents a message titled, Always Growing, based on Zacharias' response to his reprieve from muteness after the birth of his son, John, described in Luke 1:57-80. Brandon attributes Zacharias nine-months of silence to his doubt over the announcement of John's birth, but he learned his lesson and emerged with a song of praise on his lips.

Mary - A Woman Chosen by God (04-12-08) MP3
To be chosen by God is often a mix of crowns of joy and crosses of sorrow and harship, and people who serve the Lord with all they are can expect to both suffer and rejoice. Pastor Tom Stipe looks closely at Mary's submitting to the will of God by accepting the announcement from the Angel Gabriel of her motherhood of the Savior of the world. Luke 1:26-56 yields insight and lessons for us from Mary's response to God's choice and her seeking support, understanding, and fellowship from her cousin Elizabeth who was pregnant with John the Baptist at that time. Tom notes that Mary, while not a goddess worthy of exaltation above women, lifts up for us an example of faith and humility.
