THE WATER IN WHICH WE SWIM

Jesus simply states that we live in a world of two contrasting dynamics. The first is inevitable trouble. Jesus guarantees that we will have trouble in this life, and life will often be hard. We will have losses that fill us with heartache. We will experience life differently than we desire. Time after time, we are reminded that we live in a fallen world.

The second dynamic that Jesus promises is hope. Christ instruct us to “take heart.” He encourages all with the message: "Have hope in My goodness during even the most difficult times in life." The sobering truth is that the evil one wants the pain in each of our lives to drive us away from God. The enemy of our soul tempts us with the quick fix–the temporary numbing of our hearts. In contrast, Christ tells us that He has overcome the causes of our pain and offers to put meaning to our heartaches. He extends to us an invitation to know Him and receive His peace during the trials and sorrows of life.
